Mongolia 2008 – Final Training Weekend

Below is the plan for the forthcoming final training weekend – please pack your rucksacks as if you are going to Mongolia with everything in it. This will not only be a test run for you, but we also want to make sure you only take what you need.

Based at Underbank Water Centre, Underbank Reservoir, near Stocksbridge, just off the A616. If we could arrive by 7pm, that would be good, as there is quite a bit to cover. The centre has no sleeping rooms, but does have space for us to sleep on the floor – so come prepared. Should you wish to camp in tents, you are welcome to also do this as there is space around the centre for pitching tents.

Those of you who have not sent me your contact details for emergency, MUST bring this with them on this weekend or preferably, email the sheet back to me beforehand.

Friday evening:  Group – Informal chat time to catch up and answer any questions. Update from Mongolia, including Tsaatan Community stay.

DVD’s about Mongolia: Cave of the Yellow Dog and The Long Way Round (Ewan McGregor).

Also an opportunity for parents to go through any last minute queries and questions with the Leader Team. Expedition Risk Assessment, Insurance Document and YET Approved application will be available to read / view.

Rucksack check:  please ensure that your sack is packed as it will be when you leave for Mongolia

Depart between 2-3pm, depending on how much we need to discuss.

AOB:                Final Q&A session

Paul:     Coach timings and logistics for flights etc.

Anything else anybody can think of!!!!!

Cooking groups – Each group will take responsibility for the following meals – that means buying the food, preparing and cooking the meal the same as we did at the first Youth Hostel weekend. If one person in each group can take responsibility for organising this and let me know what has been sorted. There is a kitchen at the centre to cook in.
